An analysis of data in Maryland found thata student taking a high-quality high school computer science course is 10% more likely to major in computer science (CS) in college, and 5% more likely to complete a CS degree program. The study found that taking such a CS course had the greatest impact on female students, Black students, and those from lower socioeconomic backgrounds.
